Slight shimmy after leveling kit.

I have 03 sc,v10 auto, 4x4 camper & tow package. installed 3"
leveling kit . replace 2"rear blks with 4"blks from ford.
added durango 315s with 10" wheels. Now I have a small shimmy
at 5 mph that only last a second when accelerating from a dead stop. otherwise runs ands looks great. Does anyone know causes this shimmy?

over at thedieselstop.com they have talked about this issue. I think that it is caused my the carrier bearing being to high, you will need to add some shims to lower it. Go to the site and do a search for 'carrier bearing' under upgrads and aftermarket

Hey Sigalph. thanks for the tip .You're right .I found lots of people going through the same problem. looks I have to experiment with different size shims till it goes away . then I will
mill out a spacer block to the right size and install with longer bolts. Thanks, Chumly

A tip is---The driveshaft to differential yoke angle should be in line with each other, usually when you jack them the pinion angle changes(becomes more extreme)..Get it back in line, you can eye ball it...Usually a 2-3 degree shim is what is required...

Some one at the diesel stop had the part numbers for the spacer and longer bolts
for ford factory parts. the spacer is for a one ton ford .
After installing them 95% of the shimmy went away, so I
added a washer to each side for a little more drop so when looking down driveshafts they are perfectly straight. now no more shimmy, thank for the advice guys.

I am glad it worked out for you...alot of times guys will chase this around and still not beable to find it...Sounds like you had good luck with it...

P.S. If you have washers in it still, you may consider pulling those out...Blocks or spacers are the only things that should be in there...I dnot believe there is enough surface area in the washere and it could waller out the spacer blocks, or even fall out..

I suggest re-torquing the u-bolts after a couple thousand miles and at intervals there after..Did you get the torque values??

Hope, this info helps you..
