Brake Pads

One of the other sites "Expedition Digest" currently has a discussion going on comparing different brake pads for normal replacement of the OEM's.

In as much as the OEMs''s are more expensive (high so far is $110 USD) from the dealer, how about some info on what is used by owners here. Examples so far are Raybestos "extended wear"?, Autozone Carbon Metallic's (pretty happy so far and lifetime with free replacement), NAPA's lifetime replacements, etc.

Personally I tried Raybestos "NASCAR" pads on a different vehicle (chewed up the OEM rotors in no time) so I'm skeptical.

Also I can get the fronts done @ Ford (pads, cut rotors, repack bearings, replace seals, and labor) for $189. It was pretty straightforward to change them on my Windstar (prior Expy) with basically compressing the piston, remove one of the caliper bolts, pivoting the caliper up and R & R of the pads.

For those who also use the other site I apologize for the redundant posting.

Thanks

brake pads

i have VGX on our X and have been very happy with them i was looking for something with no dust due to the after market wheels, and the VGX fit the bill. They grab and stop good, no squeeks.
