Not easily. Too many differences between the engines, transmissions, and electronics.

Total engine with trans swap. Computer, ecm ect too. But will it match up? Engine mount and trans mounts? Both 2wd. Drive shaft issues? Ect...

Physically, it will mount up. Electrically, it's going to get quite involved.

With another 5.4 3 valve and 4R75 transmission out of a 2005 or newer Expy, Navigator, F150, or Mark LT 2wd. If you really must put that 2003 setup in, you will need wiring harnesses at the very least. By the time you get done, if you even get it done, you will wish you did it right.

So I got a 2006 Expedition for $1,000. I was told the motor would stall every couple of hundred yards and no one could figure out why. So I got it and it turned out all the spark plugs had over 200,000 miles on it. They were the original ones inside the vehicle. Codes are coming up like crazy. After narrowing it down and a couple of sensors later and all of the coil packs, I was able to get it running fairly well. But there was a strange sound coming from it. I couldn't figure out what it was. Took it to the shop and I found out the transmission was getting ready to blow up. I dont remember the name of the sensor, I forget now but one of the sensors are in the top of the valve that part of the variable Timing System went out and kept making it stall out. Well unfortunately I was on the interstate and I was very far from home. So I forced it in a way just revving the motor to keep it running and I pretty much blew up the motor. So it needs a motor and transmission. But for Grand and about $800 worth of parts I put in it it was worth it. It's a beautiful truck. In the meantime my work truck the transmission went out a few days ago. I found a 2003 Ford Expedition that's very rough on the outside fairly decent on the inside. It's just an XLT so it doesn't have all the options my nice one has. But as I mentioned it has a 4.6. Now I did buy it for $2,500. Why? because it has just over 100,000 miles on it it's running extremely well and doesn't have any issues and it's not the variable timing. So if there's any way possible to swap out these motors I would like to do that. that's why I'm talking to you guys, you're the pros. Where I live at is not a whole lot of great or even good mechanics. And I'm new to the area, I don't know many people and I have no friends or family in the area. I'm working on improving that. But until I can find a couple of trustworthy mechanics I'm looking to find information on my own. So if it's at all possible I would like to know. Swapping out computers and wiring harnesses as I'm going along isn't that big of a deal to me. But if the motors don't match up on motor mounts or the drive shafts are going to be giving me issues or if the weight alone is going to offset the vehicle then I have a problem. I used to be able to swap out Motors and Transmissions myself. But I don't have the tools or even a carport. I would be doing this on my back with cardboard on a gravel driveway. I'm not too enthused of doing that. I don't mind paying the labor for it if it's possible. If it's not possible at all and what you're saying I think is that it might work it probably won't, if I've got your words right then I'll move on. But if it is possible and just takes a little bit of elbow grease and I think that's what I want to do. I have not read a good story about a 5.4 rebuilt replacement. It's about three grand give or take and another two grand to get it put into the vehicle from where I'm told from one of the local shops here. And I've read nothing but nightmares of warranty issues and delayed warranty repair issues and delayed warranty request. And I don't want to go through that nightmare. So I need to pick one of two nightmares and whichever two I pick I need to stick with it.
