Question compass and miles to empty

Hi,

The compass in the wifes expedition is reading backwards... north for south, east for west... etc. I've adjusted it according to the owners manual and it still ends up the same. Feels like I'm in Bazaro land . Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, she told me last night that the "miles to empty" on the overhead console is reading low. I usually reads just above 400 miles, now it reads 360? If I disconnected the battery, will it reset??

Thanks!
Roland

The miles to go is dependent on what you had gotten for average mileage just before you filled up the tank. I fill have been doing a lot of City driving and I fill up it will be in the high 300s if I have been doing a lot of interstate driving and getting good mileage and fill up it will be mid 400s. Also if this rig is new, sometimes it takes a few tanks of gas for the mileage computer to settle down. Also maybe you didn't get a full tank. Expys can be somewhat tricky to get a ful load of fuel in sometimes.
AS for the compass, do yu have anything hanging from the mirror that has metal in it, that will drive it nuts.
Good Luck

I've seen anywhere between 350 to 480 on the DTE after filling. The 480's only happened on a trip where it was 99% Hwy driving. The compass problem, if you don't have something metalic, hanging near it, is probably the sensor, I had one go bad, it affected both outside temperature display, and caused the compass to read 180 degrees off. Only took the dealer 30 min to replace it.

Goofy fuel digital readout

Mine does the same. After I top it off (up to the rim), the most it will read out is 360 miles to empty. After It goes below 280 it resets to 360 again and then drops off as I drive likes it's suppose to. I'm showing 13.8 mpg.
