Question How fast can an expedition go?

I was wondering how fast a 4x4 xlt (4.6L) expy go without the speed limiter (1998)

How fast do you think a 2001 2x4 xlt (5.4L) expy can go without the speed limiter

Ha, I've gotten to 105 or so (no limit) without meaning to and shut down quick. I like speed, but not that large a vehicle and without speed rated tires at that speed. That's nuts.

I've heard, the 5.4 is limited at 98 and the 4.6 at 100. Don't ask why, I don't know.

MY 98 5.4 EB tops out at a bit above 100 from the "seat of the pants feel" as it still accelerates a bit after hitting 100. I read somewhere that it was limited to 103.

Top speed limited to 108mph.

Looks like you still have room to blow off that limiter FamilyRide.

And the purpose of having that much mass moving that fast is?
I love my rig, and don't want to be a party pooper, but at that point the X would become a UAV, not an SUV.

actually, I think an f18 has more mass than an expedition and it goes much faster than 108...

just make sure you have the proper ground effects and that special hook on your hitch for those sudden stops

another set of mods for you mod guys....

That's wild you found that article. I found it several months ago. Some neighbors and I were talking about SUV's etc. that same night I found it and one neighbor started telling about his brother wrecking an Expedition. The story sounded really familiar. Well it sounded familiar, because it WAS familiar. Bradley Neven the author, is his brother. I never put the last names together. Anyhow, the wreck he talks about got him punished into writing that article. Not long after that he left C&D Online and is now working for Ford as a content developer for their Intranet site.

Wow, I thought it was a trip when I realized I found that article that same day...........

wow! talk about a coincidence I never expected. Speaking of wrecked SUV's, my expedition had a rear end encounter with my mother at the wheel last year. Little honda needed a whole new rear end and was pretty badly wrecked, while the expedition needed a new airdam and bumper. Total cost was less than our 500 deductible. And now my sister broke the digicam. ARrgh! now I can't get a picture of the X next to its small, remote controlled twin.
