I have a 98 Navigator that I picked up as an extra vehicle for very little. Several years back it had been in a front end collision and someone had gone ahead and removed the front axles, essentially making it a 2WD.

My question is does anyone know if not having those axles compromises the safety of the vehicle?

It passed a state inspection, but I don't put much stock in those personally. My own safety standards exceed state requirements.
