you can find a ton of 3rd seats on CL not a big deal on that.

I would think with the weather we have here you will never need 4wd. Hell i drove my (open diff) truck last year even in ice covered with 8" of snow for a whole week.

my dad has a 2000 navigator 2wd got it with 25,000 miles and now it has 335k and still kicking. only major issue was two years ago with the air ride system. great trucks, they ride like a dream

 

What company would that be. I have an expedition that the air bags have failed. Should repair them or convert them to coils

Depends on wht you want to do. Repair could get expensive, lines compressor, shocks.

 

My Expy has a 4.6L with the 4R70 tranny. 139,000 miles with no problems and regular maintenance

 

Bought 4WD 2000 Expy with 50k, now have 230k, about 30% with a heavy trailer, use it like a work truck. Engine and trans are good, never an issue, replaced plugs, wires, and coils at 150k whether they needed it or not, oil filter housing (warped), AC system at 200K, now the dreaded "blend door" fix is due, otherwise, a nice highway puller, comfortable, safe, room for tall people, can haul 7 friendly persons and a dog or two. Forget about gas mileage. Fantastic 4WD on ice/snow. Like it better than my daughter's '07.

 

147k so far on my 2003 Navigator. Only major repairs have been:

@120k height sensor failure: Replaced all four air struts with coil springs (Arnott) - $1200

@140k coil pack failure: replaced all 8 plugs and coil packs $1k

had to replace some pinion seals now and then but wasn't very expensive. Hoping to get 400k out of this thing!

 

Okay update on my 2001. 185K, had to replace a cracked intake manifold.

 

My EB expedition is a 99 model...230k still kicking 5.4L 2wd had airbag rear but it was swapped out to coils by previous owner...leather is still in great shape. Tranny may need help soon...stuffers every once and a while going into o/d it gets 14/22mpg....I get 450 miles to the tank with mostly city driving down here in Houston

 

Just got the new 4.10 gears in my Expd broken in. Definitely a nice improvement.

 

Hi guys, new to the site here. I'm loving what yall are saying about these things! We just got a good deal on a 97 EB 4x4, has 190k on it. Only issues are P1151/0401, ABS and 4x4 lights are on, and a little herky-jerky action when you just barely touch the throttle. Planning on fabbing a catback(3" single at Y into as long a 3" Magnaflow as I can get, then either 3" in OEM routing or dual 2 1/2" angled down on either side) and putting some Lightning shoes on it once the lights are resolved and I have a work vehicle and this little elusive thing called MONEY. :P

Heck, I might even try to squeeze a set of full length stepped headers on it if the cat location will allow for it.

 

I bought my 2002 Expy in 2005. It had 64k miles on it. Got a great deal on it because the transmission needed rebuilding. Got that done, and now with 161k miles, it's still going strong. Mine is 2WD with the 4R100 transmission and rear airbags.

I've driven one with coils, and like the ride quality of the airbags much better. When I tow, the self-leveling is nice. Changing rear ride height, should you lift or lower it, takes about 30 seconds with a 13mm socket. I don't understand why people switch to coils when the airbags wear out. I just replaced mine three weeks ago, when I lowered it and did a bunch of suspension maintenance. It was easy to do. And they cost about the same as the coils would have. Honestly, I think the bags were still okay. But the driver side valve was leaking just a bit, which would allow that side to settle when parked. I cleaned both valves, and replaced the bags for good measure. Now it holds ride height overnight, as it should.

Definitely try to find one with the 3rd row seat, if you can. If not, I see them on Craigslist for about $100 (for leather) pretty often.

217k on my 2001 navigator - just regular maintenance and I tow with it on occasion. Last August, I swapped out the air bags for Expedition suspension and then added a 2" lift on top of it and threw on a set of 35" tires

 

Been reading this thread. Just curious as to what you guys absolutely hate about your Expeditions. I ask because I have a 2000 Tahoe Z71 for a daily driver... and well ive been seriously considering selling it for a 99-02 Expedition.
