Thanks for the info.

Looks like I need to shorten the distance between the battery and the inverter and no problem if I need to lengthen my 12-2 for the receptacles.

Now the question is, does a 40 amp relay exist that I can connect such thick 0 gage wire?

Not really, AFAIK anyway. It goes ~

4-8 gauge @ 20 - 100 amps.
0-4 gauge @ 60 - 300 amps.

yeah i'm down. once i get money saved up ill do that and give you a ring. ive always wanted an inverter for charging my laptop for school and what not so i dont have to worry about it. or play 360 in the desert haha jk about that one but it is always an option. haha

OK so, I though 1 more lil hole in the expi wouldn't hurt. I needed a usb connection so I can charge my phone and Ipod.

So I bought this piece for $6.00



Then I open it up and took the guts out:



And thought I'd install it here in between these two connections.





Then hot glued it and solders the line to my inverter's receptacles:



And now I got a usb connection:
