where do I start? getting expedition water ready
I am looking to be able to go through some decently high water when off roading. I have a 3 inch BL and 35's the intake is already pretty high so I will worry about the snorkel last. I was wondering where to start with vent hoses and such. Are they any electronics that need to be protected that are below the intake? Thanks for the help. Its a 2000 4.6l xlt
how much water are you looking to go through? I've been in rivers pushing water with my headlights on my expy and my old 97 f150 on 38s and both have had K&N CAI and never had any problems with them... just go slow and dont stop till you get out...
Thanks for the reply. Up to the headlights is probably as deep as I would go now. The only reason I asked was because I have read elsewhere that people reroute vent hoses and its recomended.this info was for other trucks though.
You definately do NOT want to allow any water into your trans through the vent as the next visit will be to the trans shop. The water will cause the backing of the clutch discs to come apart and then fry your trans. Make sure your rear axle vent from the l. side axle tube into the frame is good and higher than the water you expect to go through. Those gears and bearings can get expensive. Take a 12v hair drier with you in case you need to dry some of the electrics too. Dual batteries would also be good.
