Does it do it at lower speeds? For some reason, I recall that one of the features of the (at the time) new Expys was speed sensitive steering response. The faster you went, the "looser" the steering became.

Or, did the symptoms just start appearing?

I have the same issue on the 06 Expedition I recently purchased from a distant dealer. I asked my local Ford service department and they said it is variable steering assistance and that I'll get used to it. I'd like to know from the rest of you if that is correct. (Based on my experiences with this Ford service department and my F150, I don't completely trust their response. I've received much more accurate and relevant information through other users here on F150online.) There is also a short delay from when I press the gas pedal and the vehicle moves. Is this something else to get used to?

Don't remember how much delay it was, but I do remember tuning fixed whatever delay I had. Since yours is an 06, do you have the drive by wire system (no throttle cable). The drive by wire system is the reason a lot of people get tuning.

i had this problem on a 01 expedition i just purchased, when i was doing an oil change i noticed a connector that was just hanging next to the oil filter. Someone had pulled the connector off the power steering pump so they could get to the oil filter, i plugged it bck in and the steering problem went away. I would take a look and make sure there isn't a connector missing off the powersteering pump
