Just pulled the trigger on a new 2010 EL Limited

Hey guys,

I have lurked here for awhile so I figured what better way to throw out my first post than with my new purchase. Just bought a white 2010 EL Limited and I must say this is nice. I have owned 2 other Expy's a 2003 EB(had a lot of problems) and a 2005 Black limited (was an awsome truck). I racked up over 100K miles on each truck. The biggest benefit (for all Expy's) is the power rear fold seats. This such a nice feature. I don't know why the other manufacturer's don't follow suit with this option. I also have the remote start feature which is nice in the cold weather. Here is how I rate it so far.

Pros:

-Power fold up running boards (cool feature)
-Power rear tailgate (finally)
-Backup camera in the Nav unit (sorely needed)
-NAV Sync system is the best on the market I have seen. Everything is realtime in traffic and can suggest better routes based on less traffic. (Definitely needed here in the DC area)
-No more multiple CD's in the radio. The new radio RIPs them from the CD and save's them in memory like a computer.
-Love the floor shifther over the old column shift.
-GREAT riding/handling on the highway and in snow. This thing rides like a Cadillac even with the 20 inch rims.
-intake redesign eliminates known spark plug problems in 3V motor.
-Heated and cooled front and rear seats.
-The extra space the EL offers is so worth it when the third seats are up. You actually have space to store stuff...like the stroller, luggage etc.
-Capless fuel tank. Not sure if this a pro as of yet. Worried dirt and debris can accumulate in the depression area and might fall in. None the less a cool feature.
-larger gas tank (35 Gallon)

Cons:

-6 Speed transmission is something to get used to (I liked/miss the 4 Speed tranny)
-Sideview mirrors are smaller than the 03/05's
-Cheesy chrome plastic insert on the twenty inch rims.
-No standard 5/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty unless purchased (other manufacturer's offer this standard)
-Wish the remote start was part of the key fob instead of a seperate remote.

I installed the bug guard already on the hood and plan on getting the side windows tinted next week. Once I do, I will post up some pictures.

Welcome to the site, and congrats on the new purchase. Looking forward to seeing some pics of that beast. I'm surprised you listed the 6spd transmission as a con. What's your thoughts on it? Too much shifting going on? I'm just curious.

Cool Expo Man I’m glad you’re happy with her. Did you get leather seats? Any plans for power adders after the warranty is up? The stock stereo ripping the cds is very cool. What don’t you like about the 6 spd? Does it just shift way different then a 4spd? I would think MPG would get real good with the 2 extra gears. Some pics of the inside and out would be real cool

Yes...that is exactlly the issue. Seems like 1st to second gear and vice a versa is to steep. Happens very quick on the upshift (around 10MPH) and very slow on the downshift. So acceleration from a stop seems slower than my old Expy. I think I am just not used to that.

Let me add, that when you have it in cruise control, it does down shift (alot) on any grade to maintain speed. Again, it is supposed to do that, it just seems the tranny shifts a lot more than my old truck.

Leather (Tan) all the way through. I believe it is standard on all Limited's. I will put a K&N on soon (as I have done with all my Expo's). It does improve gas mileage. I averaged 14-15 MPG on my Expy's in the past. This one say's it will get about the same. Oh yeah, I forgot to list the larger gas tank (yeah). 35 Gallon.

Congrats on the new ride. Sounds like a nice one.

Did you say you have factory nav but your camera is still displaying in the mirror?

Mine does that, but I thought that was becasue I added the factory Sync NAV after I bought it.

I think you may get a little better mileage out of your new one. Mine is 4wd as well and I get 17-18 on the highway, running 75mph, 16mph if I am running in the 80mph range. The 6 speed seems to really shine out on the highway.

No the backup camera displays through the factory NAV in the radio unit. It is very cool because there are bars (green, yellow, red) to signify how close you are to the closest object in view. This of course works in conjunction with the backup sensors that tone the radio down and beeps as you get closer.

Ya, I like the guide bars too, they are just a little harder to see in the smaller mirror display screen vs the nav screen. I am planning to see if there is a way to make them display in both locations at the same time.
