Does this panel come off?

and if so, how?

in an '04 Expedition, the passenger airbag panel. There is a rattle behind it and it's driving me crazy. (Ever since my wife decided to put her feed on it to which I despise greatly)

Many thanks!

The panel is part of the passenger side air bag module. From the looks of it, you'd have to remove the whole module (you can't just remove the panel.)

Removing it seems easy, though you have to deactivate the SRS (airbag) system first. You don't want the thing going off in your face...

Have you checked it isn't something in the glove box?

Technically yes. I was just warning him that just unplugging and messing around with the air bag could set it off, causing injury.

Another question about panel removal...I need to remove the access panel that is located right under the steering wheel. I unbolted everything imaginable and it still didnt come off...any thoughts? I'll get a pic up tomorrow of the panel if that helps

This is for the 2000, right?

1. Remove the top steering wheel cover. Moving the shifter to 1 might make it easier.

2. Release and set aside the electrical connector that down there.

3. Take off the fuse cover.

4. Take off the screws (should be 2) on the hood release hatch, and release it from the lower shroud.

5. Take off the screws (should be 2) on the parking brake release, and release from the lower shroud.

6. Remove the 6 bolts, and take off the lower shroud.

To install, reverse the order.
