Temp display

I just swapped a 97 expy overhead console into my 01 Lightning and it came with the MPG read out. Our trucks didnt come with the electronics to utilize that so I want to put the temp display in. Does anyone know what year or model came with the temp read out or am I SOL? TIA guys

It's fairly involved to make it look right. You need to cut on the bracket like this

Then you need to take down the headliner and mount the bracket in place. Cut the headliner to fit around the bracket. Mount the console as best you can because it wont fit the back of the headliner yet. Once it's mounted you'll need to start trimming the back of the console to fit the headliner. And you'll get this

It's not hard you just have to take your time. PM me if you have any questions about it

Are you asking what year of the Lightning came with a temp display?

I'm not sure if you got your question answered but I just bought a 2001 expy overhead console from ebay, for it to have the temp you need the electronic display with only the "select" button. Check out Grafix Ink's install pic of the correct console.

Be sure not to get the expy eddie bauer edition because that model uses the dual button display with trip computer and MPG read out. I think you can find the right display on 97-02 expeditions as long as you find one with just one button.

Its probably cheaper to get a used console than to buy just the display, you can usually find something on ebay for under $50. If you need one, you can pick up the ambient air temperature sensor at your local parts store, got mine from Napa for around $17 part number TS4005. I just got mine wired and tested, I just need to figure out how to get it mounted because I don't have the mounting bracket that goes under the headliner.
