Exclamation POSSIBLE SERIOUS DISK BRAKE PROBLEM

Just replaced brake pads all the way around this weekend on my 98 Expy w/48k miles. I found something very interesting happened to the front brake pads. One end on the pad was warn almost all the way down to the metal, while the other end looked hardly warn. The bottom caliper piston pushed the bottom half of the break pad out more than the top piston. Well, figuring that this must just be a problem with one side, nope the other caliper did the same thing. If I hadn't checked those breaks, i'd been in a mess and had to replace rotors and it would have been a very costly repair. So, is Ford not telling us something about these breaks. I talked to a mechanic friend and he said he never heard of a problem like that. Both pistons should push out equaly on a dual piston caliper. Has anybody else ever seen this happen?

Question

I checked ours a couple of weeks ago and at 55,000 miles, they appear to be worn evenly. It is time for new ones, though.
