Hey guys,
I just prrchased a 99 4x4 Expedition with the 5.4L, 4-corner air suspension, and towing package. It has about 45K on the odometer, and I have just noticed an irritating rattling/clunking in the rearend(?) sometimes when crossing numerous ruts/bumps. Any idea what it could be??? It definitely sounds like it's coming from the rearend, but I can't find anything that's loose or could possibly be making the noiise...

Sixguy, there have been numberous post on this but I will try to remember them. One the swaybar bushings sometimes vanish. Two, shocks are loose. The shocks seem to be tight untill you go under and really give them a good tightening. That's all I can remember for now but tomarrow some other people will give you some more advice.

Thanks....I was able to find that this was a fairly familiar topic and had already been previuosly addressed...I've also posted my concerns there.

 

I'd put a wrench on the shocks and check them out. Seems to be the number one issue, and one easily resolved.
