Post Paint flaking/peeling on roof rack?

My Y2K expy's roof rack is peeling/flaking along the outside edges.

Has anybody had this?
It might be clearcoat as it is flat black underneath the peeling areas.

The truck only has 10K on it, was wondering if I should let Ford repaint the rack?

Has anyone had to have Ford repaint a piece or section of their vehicle? If so did the they take forever and end up getting overspray, not masking good, Etc?

Same here. Been doing it for some time (99 Exp.). Haven't noticed any ill effects of the black paint flaking off when washing.

I can't find any on the roof rack but at 6 months old and garaged (except at work), the window mouldings on all 4 doors look like something off a'77 model that's been up on blocks for 15 years.

I've heard it's very common and Ford will repace them. Then they'll fade and flake again.......

Thanks for the info.

I was looking at it again this morning and it is kind of ugly.

I will check with them and see if I can just take it off and let them repaint it.

The trim below the door glass is starting to fade on this truck too.
I was going to try that Black magic stuff on them before letting Ford take care of them.

My lower molding under the windows were looking ugly, water spotted, the dealer replaced them too! There is a tbs# I forgot the number just tell the service writer to look it up! Good Luck, DJY
