Post Expy with 2nd row seating as captains chairs?

I am in the process of searching out a used Expy and thought I had seen one with 2 captains chairs as the 2nd row instead of the split bench. Am I crazy? Perhaps it was an excursion. If it is/was an option was it part of a trim level or package deal like XLT or EB. As you can tell I haven't spoken to anyone other than some private owners. I am sure a dealer could answer this for me but you guys are at my finger tips. I have an F150 and want an Expy for the little woman. Thanks

It's an option. Not sure if you can get it on the XLT but you can on the EB.

You can "build a truck..." on Ford's website to see what the options/cost/availablilty is at least for 2001 models. They haven't changed dramaticly, but there are changes. It will at least give you an idea.

I'm not sure the rear captians chairs are very popular so you may have a hard time finding one pre-owned. You can fit more Soccer players on the split bench

Thanks for info guys. I thought I had seen it in an expedition. I really wanted that arrangement so the dog could wander around on a longer trip (she's spoiled). No real need for the soccer deal. Son is only five weeks old. I wanted the Expy to carry us and all our crap to the beach while dragging the boat. I love my F150 and thought the Expy would be a great addition. Can the smaller portion of the 2nd row bench be removed or just folded down? Thanks again, this is a great site. Eric

Not sure about the last couple of years, but in the earlier model Expeditions, either portion of the second-row bench can be folded down independently.

Yes, either or. Big or small side will fold down easily and makes a floor. Fold both down and remove the 3rd seat and you'd got a covered truck bed, sort of.

The 2000 Expy has a lock down for the 3rd seat if you want to fold it up and out of the way for more room in the back. Even with our 3 year old and even traveling a Christmans with tons or presents and luggage, folding up the 3rd seat gave us plenty of room in the back. I hauled a new tool cabinet and chest in it with all the seets in. Floded down the middles and folded up the 3rd. So much room they would slide around on corners!

Thanks again. I found a 97 5.4 with 43K and all the whistles that I looked at today. The ball is in my court and I am leaning towards doing it. You are all right, with the seats folded down there is more than enough room for all of us and our goodies too.

I have a 00 EB EXPY. and a 97 also. The 2nd
row seats do fold down but are not removable. The third row seat on both of mine is removable. The 2nd row captains chairs are an option but we stuck with the bench type. Nearly every EB EXPY. we looked at had the 2nd row captains chairs! Had to drive to Dallas to get the bench! :0
