Post NEED HELP w/ front license plate bracket

I just got a fix-it ticket for not having a front license plate. I installed a billet grill in the lower bumper so I had to remove the license bracket. Have any of you installed the bracket with the grill? If so can you please explain how this was done? I don't even know if I still have the bracket. Please respond ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your ticket, but what area did you get it? I also live in Los Angeles and work for the city of LA, and we are installing "Red light running camera's" in the city and I think the police are going to inforce this law alot more now. I also drilled out the rivets on the bumper that used to hold my plate bracket(which I cut up). Oh, the camera hear only takes a front picture of the vehicle. Which prompt's the ticket.
Good Luck

I received the ticket on Sunset Blvd in front of Mel's Diner. The worst thing though was that a parking enforcement lady gave me it while I was parked!! I saw her giving me a ticket and I told her that I had money in the meter. Then she tells me that I don't have a front license plate. I didn't even know that parking enforcement could give tickets for this. Oh well, I just hope someone responds.

I've been running vehicles for 10 years without the front plate. 1 ticket in 10 years and 1 warning. For me I did it because I used to be a Private Detective. Now I do it for looks AND my Expedition gets more fresh air through the inlet of the crome bumper... This cools my trans/oil cooler and radiator better!

Screw it! 1 ticket, who cares? Probability says you wont get another for some time. Its worth the risk for me!

I ripped the bracket off and have NO IDEA how I would go about replacing it if I had to???

Well, I now have a front licence bracket. Like I said previously, I have a billet grille in the lower bumper of my 98 Expy. I went to local ford dealer and purchased a replacement stock bracket. It was actually fairly easy to install. The bracket mounts in two areas. The first is through a pair of slits in the bumper. The bracket is held there with a pair of rivets underneath. The hard part was trying to anchor the bracket to the inner lip of the bumper. I loosened the billet grille slightly and managed to slide the anchors underneath to grab hold of the lip. Then just tightened the grille and that was all. It does look at cool as before, but still looks great nonetheless.

Rand, here in Los Angeles, they are installing traffic cameras everywhere. And it turns out that they take a picture of the front of the vehicle to read the license and send you a ticket. Cops are really cracking down on this, so I thought what the hell and just installed the bracket. I would much rather prefer the look w/o the bracket, but it isn't too great of a difference.

Same with Northern VA. We've got camera's and I've already had my picture taken. Oops!
I think they take it of the rear here...

Good luck and SMILE!
