The X Plan is a deal that Ford sometimes offers to employees of Companies that have fleet purchase agreements or employees of companies that are major Ford suppliers. It means that you pay 3% more than the Ford employee price for any Ford product (including Jag, Volvo, etc) and the dealer gets a flat commission paid to him by Ford for the sale. Dealers love the X Plan because they are still getting a good profit on the deal, usually more than if they sold at $200 over "invoice".

I work for Shell and we were offered the X Plan last year on any Ford product excluding the Excursion and Super Duties. It ended up saving me about $500 on the Expedition I bought for the wife. The way is works is we were provided a special 800 number to call. We then gave the Ford Rep a code number assigned to Shell by Ford along with our SS#. We were then given a PIN number to give the dealer when buying the vehicle.

I guess the X-Plan will not work for the average person? Is there anyway around this? Sure would like to know.

I'm not aware of any way to get the X plan unless you have it offered to you. I never had heard of it myself until last year!
