1999 Broken Door Keypad

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem. I have a 1999 Ford Expedition and it has a broken keypad. The #5/6 number I guess rotted and popped out. Now all I have is a hole with the circuit board showing.
I called a couple dealers and one says I have to replace the whole unit. Another says I can just buy the rubber numbers set and replace that. Whats one to do? Also if I replace the whole unit will it work with my code? If I replace the rubber numbers will it work with my code? Also how hard is it to replace in the first place and is ford the only place to get the parts. Thanks for all the help.

Depending on the price I would go with a new unit. Odds are water got into the one you have now and it's a matter of time before it stops working altogether.

The keypads are easy to get out but you have to take the inside of the door apart. ( which is a chore the first time ). I have taken mine out in my Expy to clean the inside because some of the keys weren't working.

As for having a new code, I'm not sure.
