Nav transmission?

Got a '99 Nav w/ 85K miles on it and was coming back from a 110 mile trip yest. (all highway miles) and when we came to a stoplight, the trans was slipping pretty bad. It would rev real high then drop into gear. Then, this a.m. the overdrive "off" light was flashing and the car kind of "lurched" when at a stoplight. The trans fluid is at the correct mark, checked when the trans was hot and car running. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Took it to the dealer and they pulled the codes (P0781 & P0782) and said there is internal trans. probs. They said the codes are not for the soleniod packs and are not for the speed sensor.

How hard is it to pull/re-install a rebuilt trans in a Nav? The dealer wants $480 to pull & diagnose it, and then who knows what after that. Advanced Auto sells reman. Accurate Transmissions for the Nav w/ torque converter for $1,600 and change, what do you think?

I was told the trans isn't holding pressure. They said it runs OK when cold, but when warmed up, not good at all. They said 2nd & 3rd gear are going.

I found another shop that will do it for between $2,000 and $2,400 w/ a 24 mo./24,000 mile warranty. Is this a good price? How much would the Lincoln dealership charge?

Tranny Cost

My wifes' 96 Dodge Grand Caravan tranny went out becuase it is a Dodge with the dodge engine and dodge tranny. They all go out at around 85G, anyway to buy the updated tranny that fixed the design flaw at the dealership it cost $2500.
Thats a front wheel drive with everything in one place. Expect a 4X4 to be more expensive at a dealership.
One tip: pay extra if you have to and make sure who ever does it flushes out your tranny cooler. You dont want the metal shavings in the tranny fluid in the cooler going back into your knew tranny.
I had the dealer replace the dodge tranny becuase I needed the new design that wont gernade every 85G miles, but you can consider doing it yourself. Just take it step by step.

I had a local trans shop rebuild it for $2,400. They flushed the cooler, I mentioned that to them and they said they always do. I got a 2 year, 24K mile warranty, but I'm selling it anyway...

Just curious

Hey Coolbrze,
Did your tranny leak fluid before this happened? Did it give you any warning signs before it went out? Anything I could look out for?

No warning signs whatsoever. The Nav is treated good too, we're selling this one and buying a new one though Too bad we didn't do it a couple months ago...
