New lock is your fix. That is a common problem. My wife's 2000 Expedition has the same issue for the right rear door lock. Motor is just getting real tired like low voltage. My 01 excursion is starting to show symtoms of this as well. Kinda limping it along right now till I have to tear into it.

You can find the Ford actuators on ebay or your local car audio shop will have an aftermarket actuator that you could use for your door as well. Sometimes one bad actuator can make the entire lock system act slow like it's loosing power or something. I have a habit now when I work on model year 97 and up F150, Expedition, Excursion vehicles that I cycle the locks up and down about 5 times to see if they have the symtoms. That way I can show the owner that thier truck has the problem before I install an alarm or something. Otherwise I get the "It's done it ever since you installed it" Then I email them some links to the many, many, many forum postings of people with the same problem throught the internet.

Hope this helps you out and smile....You're not alone....lol
