Thinking of upgrading the Expedition
We are considering upgrading our current Expedition (2000 XLT) with a newer model. Thinking of either a 2002 or 2003 EB. I'm really liking the hide-away rear seats and the ergonomic improvements in the 2003, but I'm also somewhat partial to the "old" styling.
Any thoughts, and what I should be watching out for?

I bought a used 03 xlt in April
Very nice vehicle. Has the 4.6l engine. it is low powered for sure. Went and got the Xcal2 w/3 tunes from Troyer, and an AF1 intake. Much improved performance. Now a pleasure to drive. No problem passing. Accelleration is very nice.
The fold-away 3rd seat is great. I like the body height on the 02, but the third seat thing would make me choose it over the 02. Also, the 03 is EXTREMELY comfortable to drive. Nicest thing Ive driven in many years. The steering is excellent as well - rack and pinion I belive. Very responsive.
the only problem I've had was the drivers door/window control pannel lights on the switch ***'bly were going out. Got it fixed under warranty (I bought the truck w/ 27K miles and d3 months of original warranty!). The other thing was a sticky "door ajar" light - solved by spraying wd40 in all the locks (the location of the door open sensors - go figure).
I have 6 kids and all of us can comfortable ride in it for long periods of time.
The 03 is fine if you find one in good shape, and even the smaller engine can be overcome to some extent.
Regards,
John
