1999 Expedition Shifter???

1999 Expedition Shifter???
The shifter used to line up with the letters "P, R, N, D, D1, D2" Got in this morning and it is now almost a whole letter off. If you are in "drive" it looks like you are almost in "Drive1" 
ect... I just noticed this this morning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
