No hot air while on Max AC
No hot air while on Max AC
In any of the non-recirculation positions on my manual HVAC dial, I get warm and cold air from the dash vents (provided the air is turned on). When I switch to Max A/C (the only recirculation position) the only air that comes out of the dash is cold (no matter where I set the thermostat). The rear air gives both hot and cold air from both the overhead and floor vents in the same position.
The service tech at my local dealer says technet reps say that is normal (my service tech doesn’t agree). Does everyone in the nation breathe gas and diesel fumes while in traffic on cold days?
I hope I’m the only one with this problem, but if someone could shed some light I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Jim B.

Sorry I don't have a solution, but I can tell you that your truck is not operating normally.
You should absolutely be able to blow hot air on the MAX AC positon.
I just wish Ford had used a separate "recirc" button like most imports have. Then you could choose recirc regardless of the vent setting.

Thanks for the posts guys, but apparently on the '03 manual A/C the only air coming out of the dash vents in the Max/AC position is cold. You can shut off the dash vents and get hot air from the rear (both overhead and feet) but not in the front. From the research I've done (and the dealer's also) this is the only year that this is a problem. It's not a bad work around, it's kinda nice having warm air blowing on your neck
I guess next time I'll try an EB with auto A/C.
