Aftermarket overhead console with TV/DVD in 01 Expy?

Hi Everyone!

I am looking to put a DVD/TV combo in my 2001 Expy. Does anyone have recommendations on what to buy/avoid? I want a "factory" look, meaning the front and rear AC controls plug in to the console. Also, would there be any wiring changes or is what's there enough? Thanks!

Brian

Brian I have the Clarion system. It looks great IMHO. I like that it doesn't hang down from the ceiling. Plus it is fairly easy to install. Check Crutchfiels for a picture or try Clarion's web site. I have the VHS player, because two years ago DVD units were way too much. There were some pics of mine at one time on here. Could still be under my name if you do a search. Good luck.

I have the overhead tv/dvd in my expedition and i hate it.. it is in teh way and unabel to see really what's behind you.. If i had to do it again i would go for the ones in the head rest.. I saw some at Cartoys for both head rests 999.00 didn't think that was to bad.. Just my .02 worth

I would be very cautious though about the quality of the displays. Some of the stuff floating around on EBAY has rumoured to be old displays from airlines. Not sure if this is true at all. I would just stick with a name brand such a Alpine, sony or Clarion just to name a couple.

Ok, it looks like overhead is out. The Clarion unit sounds good, but I can't seem to find it on their website or at Crutchfield. One other thing I would like is an in-dash A/V unit without a display. I just want to be able to control the monitor from the driver's seat. FM/AM/CD/MP3/DVD/TV Tuner in a unit that fits nicely in the double dash slot would be fantastic!

And don't worry about eBay and buying junk. This kind of install is above me, so I'll prolly look to Tweeter or somebody similar to install.
