My wifes expy is a 97 5.4 , A couple times a year she has an interesting no start problem..
She will turn the key and the engine wont crank so then you push the gear lever up harder into park and it starts fine..

I guess this problem is gear selector sensor on the transmission needing adjusted .

But what happens when it does crank after she bumps the lever is what is interesting..
As soon as the engine cranks, the doors lock then unlock. Some function of the PATS? Anybodys done this before? Just wondering what it thinks is going on..

 

Mine's done it once, but I found I didn't get the shifter all the way into park. Put it in park and started right up.
