Fuel Mileage Increase

Has anybody else experienced similar results?

I wanted a good free flowing but very quiet, deep sounding setup for the upcoming Procharger installation on my '02 5.4L.

I made new headpipes behind the cats in 2 1/2" stainless. These feed directly into a Bassani "X" piece then into a pair of 52" (yes 52") all stainless steelpack mufflers. I finished the system with 2 1/2' tailpipes fabbed from stainless mandrel bends to give max flow. All joints were inside purged and tig Welded.

The result so far has been very satisfactory. I got the sound I wanted and an enexpected benefit. On a 500 mile trip to Reno and back yesterday, had my cruise set at 78mph most of the way, my gas mileage went from 17.1 last month to 18.9 this trip.

Can't beat that with a stick!

Installed a Gibson Supertruck last week, and have a new record for gas mileage.... my all time best.

Just returned from a round trip to Toronto 4 adults, a ton of gear in the bed, and driving 70 - 80 all the way.

Got 15.88 MPG

Prior to this, I was getting 14, or just under.

Not bad considering I only have 5500 miles on my truck.

The first couple of thousand miles were awful, I was getting between 10.8 and 12..... finally, things are looking up.

Good luck
