They are not going to be very loud no matter what brand of muffler with single in dual out mufflers. If you want loud go with true duals. I had single in dual out with just a y-pipe where the muffler would be and it still was not that loud. When I got that taken out and the stock y taken out it and no mufflers it was very loud. Too loud for some people but i liked it. When you first crank it up and it is cold, rev it up and it will almost bust your eardrums. Sounds like a drag car.

What means more to you...sound or low end torque/H.P.
Give a call to Mike at performance and talk to him about this before you throw out your Magnaflow.
That magnaflow gives the least low end loss of the others...another issue I found out about too late.
I love the sound of my Supertruck...Not Loud, but nice throaty sound.
The flowmasters are the worst on low end loss, but they are Nice and loud.

Do some serious research before you make you next Muffler choice. I'm running with DF 50 series with 4.6L (SI/SO) and also have drone in the cab @ 60 MPH. I don't do alot of highway driving so I guess I can live with it.

The Magnaflow I had on my truck is crap x 2!!!! the thing is not even a year old and It had two rust cracks on the welds from the factory. I noticed way better engine response the Flowmaster, yeah its not as loud as I wanted it to be, but it is a way better system than magnacrap!

Go with the 40's non-DF. Nice low sound that is not too loud at all. No drone either. I noticed no power loss at low or high RPM.

This thread is getting interesting. It seems there are as many different opinions on mufflers as there are mufflers.

What's a body suppose to do...LOL.

I would like to get one of each system and swich them at every couple days so I can see which one does what. For now I guess I'll have to stick with just one.

Maybe someone can come up with a quick connect so we could just swap them out in about 10 minutes.

Nacho....

Like TexfordD said give it some time. I have a 40 series DF. Si/Do and have really grown to love the sound of it. It is not obnoxious in the cab at 70 mph but from behind (IMHO) it sounds great!

I definitely agree with you Nacho. I just had a DF 40 series SI/DO put on my SCREW and it gave me just the right amount of rumble that I was looking for. At idle you hardly hear it, hit the gas and it is a different story.........at cruising speeds you can still here it, but it's not as rumbly as it is from dead start. I love mine.....if I could get my wife out of it.................she didn't think I should do it(extra money that could be used for something else), but now she loves driving it. I get it back tonight. Would recommend to anybody..

I got the 40 si/do on my screw with Lightning style exhaust and really looks sweet. To be honest thoug, it is really quiet. To the point that I'm border line dissapointed. I am definately glad I didn't get a 50 that's fore sure. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely happy with it compared to stock, and you can definately hear it. The thing that threw me off is I had the exact same exhaust I have now on my '97 4.6 and it sounded awesome. Exactly what I wanted. I traded my '97 in on a '02 5.4 screw and immediately put the same exhaust on it. Very quiet (compared to the other truck) and completely different sound. I couldn't believe it. Anyways, to make a long story short...I am extremely happy with it and would never get a 50. But then again I have to compare the sound of this to my '91 Mustang with just under 10:1 compression, big cam, equal length headders, 2 1/2" off road exhaust, dual 40 (non deltal flow) mufflers with dumps. Wanna talk about sweet. Oh yea, I am this far away from ordering the Edelbrock headders for the truck to see what that does.
