Question about exhaust tips. Should I cut??

I have duels out the back of my f-150. I ran the pipe just past my bumper. I can't find any chrome extensions to go over my 2 1/4 OD pipe. And people told me it would rattle. So being in Wisconsin I"ve decided to cut the pipe 8 inches back and stick a stainless tip in. Have people done this? Does it look like crap when you look under and see the pipe and then tip? Or should I just leave the pipe alone and try to find an extension that will go over 2 1/4 without rattling or cutting?

your local auto parts store should have exhaust parts such as reducing couplers and if you ran your pipes at a slight angle from the top of the rear end down to the bumper the coup[ler should,nt be noticable only to the rabbits
