Anyone purchase from Summit??

Just wondering...I am about to order a Gibson Split Rear Cat Back and it looks like Summit has free shipping (with a s/h charge added). Is this true??

Have you all had good experiences with them??

Thumbs up

I've not had any problems with them. They may add an "oversize" charge too. At least that's what they did when I ordered a BBK H pipe from them for my Mustang GT several years ago, but they told me they would when I ordered it over the phone. If you look at their catalog, it'll say something about the oversize thing too.

I've also ordered the Y pipe and a brake controller from them via the internet. No problems with any of those shipments either.

I'd call them up for your exhaust system order however. That way you can tell them exactly what make, year and system you want for your rig.

Good luck. Just remember, it's "mail order", so ***** does happen from time to time........

Talking Summitt order

I've only ordered one item. Used their website and it came 3-4 days later. No shipping charge; just the handling charge since I went with the normal ground delivery.

Their catalog says they add a s/h fee and an oversize fee. I will have to call them because they list the split rear for 98 to 99. All other sites say 97 to 2002 4.2/4.6/5.4...I wonder why they don't list one for a 97??

I know about the ***** happening with mail orders...I bought a tailgate off ebay and it came from Oregon to Maine...DENTED!! That really pisses me off...I paid more for the shipping then the gate...now I have a dented new gate that is no better looking then the one on my truck. On top of that, the claim, wait, etc...it sucks! I could have bought my white face gauges and billet grills for that price!

Summit is an excellent company with great customer service. I've purchased many things from them over the years. Those "small potatos" companies are no comparison to Summit.

I've ordered a large number of things from Summit over the last two years. They typically do a great job. I have had a few problems with the products, but Summit has taken care of it in every case. The problems were not Summits fault.

One thing I don't like is their new policy to absolutely refuse to send a call back sticker for UPS to pick up a return. You have to go and hunt down a UPS delivery point to make a return. They claim is was too expensive. I would rather they just give their managers the room to use it in rare cases of defective products. If you buy something and its junk, there is nothing worse than having to drive around trying to find a shipping place, and paying the shipping (which Summit will pay back). After all, if it came to your door at home, why can't it leave from your door at home?

Anyway, overall a good company, that takes care of its customers if there is trouble.

The shipping & handling charge is a rip-off. I'd much rather pay shipping costs, which in most cases, will be less. Try racerpartswholesale.com

I ordered a Gibson SweptSide and a K&N FIPK from Summit two weeks ago. They arrived in 3 days. Paid $15 oversize and the usual $7.95 handling. Summit seemed to have the best price even with these charges. I would absolutely buy from Summit again.

Thumbs up Summit is AOK!

I've ordered mufflers from them before(glasspacks) and
never had any complaints with service or overcharges.

Use the WAY too much

I think Summit might want me to open an account I use them so often....<g>

Got my Gibson Super Truck Exhst from there, 7.95 handling, no shipping. Helwig Anti-sway bar..I don't recall more then the 7.95 ( talk about a heavy shipment...) but that might have had a heavy add on ????
BTW I don't know how 7.95 can be more then shipping for an exhst system, to answer doorslammer69's post, talking about Summit spec. Maybe others do the 24.99 in handling, which could be the source of his post.... ?
To add though I have never used racerpartswholesale.com so I will have to price shop them also now along with Jeggs and Summit. Thanks for that URL.

I just got yesterday my box-o-parts for a remote oil filter, 8# of parts in a 20x10x10 box, yes you guessed it...7.95.

Everything I get in 1 or 2 days from them being I am in IL, which is another plus. Have several friends in CA that use Jeggs, I don't due to additional ship times ( geography dependant,

k_fulk,

I would be in the poor house if I lived 1 hour from Summit and Styling Concepts. How do you resist ?
I would go there for the heck of it, and wind up spending $100's each time <g>

I orderd my exhaust system from them and was very pleased with the service and suprised at how cheap the ship charge was. About $7.00 or $8.00 bucks for a huge box about 6 foot long is a good deal. I remember standing there when it came off the ups truck thinking good deal!
