In need of some advice here folks!
Next week, I will be having dual exhaust installed on my 99 Lariat which I have recently added Lightning ground skirts to last Fall. I already have a set of Borla tips that were donated by a vendor and was wondering what brand/kind of muffler you all would suggest for my 99 with a 5.4L V8? I honestly just want a dual inlet/dual outlet muffler not 2 mufflers, what diameter should I stay with? 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 ? Thanks and I will reply to all post made here this weekend. I have sold my Roush NASCAR tip and will be doing this next week for sure. I currently have a MagnaFlow muffler also if anyone might be interested in it once it is removed from truck. Ravin? another FlowMaster Series 3? You tell me folks, I want an aggressive, powerful tone, not a glass pack sound from a Blue Oval!

Showya-
There could be a very wide range of recommendations on this. Here's a personal one. 2.5" duals with a Dynomax Ultra-flow Stainless Steel. The part number for a single DI/DO is #17276. It's a very "aggressive, powerful tone", guaranteed. They have a $25 rebate right now, lifetime warranty, straight-through design, and high flow rates.
I have questions about your Lund Hood Scoop. Is this the "Eclipse" single scoop? If so, does it lay perfectly flat against the hood or does it require modifications to fit? Did you paint it? Any painting tips? Did you remove the Lund logo? What was this logo like? Is the adhesive tape adequate?

Hey thanks, you mention a Single DI/DO, you mean a single muffler here?
As for the scoop, it started out as a just to tide me over til spring kinda thing. I am shooting a gallery of my truck Monday(fingers crossed here). The scoop actually looks like a Torino hood scoop with dual snorkels facing forward. Lund makes these for Mustangs but thru a buddy that works for Lund, he got me one and we test fitted it and that was it! I had it painted by my painter here in K.C. and it looks sweet. I have guys all the time asking where I got that shaker hood?
As for the Lund logo, it came in a little baggie and is currently installed on my toolbox in the garage. It lays smooth across the hood and I have yet to lose this on the road. This does install using 3M brand tape so if I ever wanted to back stock, yeah right too late for that thought, it would probably peel right off after some heat gun.

You're more than welcome. Thanks for the scoop information. I've seen that model as well as owned several 1970-1971 Torino Cobras with those original shakers. I was concerned about ordering one and them finding out that it didn't lay flat on an F-150 hood; especially since their website doesn't list F-150s as a recommended application.
The muffler that I previously mentioned is "one muffler" with 2 entrances and 2 exits; all 4 in 2.5". I have an Ultra-flow Welded muffler and I love it. It has a throaty muscle car growl. You can get information here.

What Magnaflow are you taking off the truck? If it's a SI/DO, I may be interested! I have true duals with glasspacks and 2 1/4" pipes, and I never could quite get rid of that nagging sensation that it's too open for the 4.6. Seeing Flats Mans' 17 HP loss drove that home, I still have decent low end power though. I'm considering going to a SI/DO muffler, with a custom Y pipe. He went true duals and 2 1/2" pipes, with Magnaflow High flow mufflers, and ended up making custom exhaust traps to bring the low end TQ/HP numbers back up. Shoot me an e-mail with the muffler specs, and how much you'd like to get for it. Thanks.,,,,98 gaml@earthlink.net
