Spintech Exhaust
My friend just installed his on a 97 4.6 and man does it sound awesome, I hope i dont get any flames here but it pesonally sounds better than the gibson exhuast. He had the gibson before and had just heard about the spintech with x-pipe and decided that was what he wanted and ended up getting it a week later. THe sound is awesome kindda sounds like a stanger the gibson he had before made his truck sound identical to a camaro, anyways i just checked out the catback my self and its listed for 409 . And you are gonna have to do some modification.
Does anyone have any sound files or know where to find them online for a spintech exhaust on an F-150?
Is their X-pipe installed where one would otherwise weld on a Y-pipe? If so wouldn't an X-pipe be a waste of time because of the different length to the X from either exhaust manifold? Wouldn't be as effective with different length pipes after the cats to simply pipe either exhaust manifold into a 2-in, 1-out spintech muffler?
Am I thinking correctly that an X-pipe would only really make a difference if it was in the centre of the vehicle with equal length pipes from the cats on either side to the X-pipe? As well, wouldn't it also be much more effective with equal-length long or shorty headers as the factory manifolds would not be producing sequential exhaust pulses through the cats? Remember you want the pulses to flow through the exhaust and hit the muffler one after another. If the length from the exhaust manifold to the muffler was different for one side of the engine to the other then more than likely 2 or more pulses in the exhaust would meet in the X-pipe/muffler at once reducing flow efficiency?
I'm not an exhaust expert but just some theory. Not asking for a flame but just anyone that could shed some light on that theory?
