Headers ????
Headers ????
I really want to put a set of headers on my 5.4, but only have so much of a cash flow now. I could probably afford the black painted headers from Pacesetter, but alot of my friends told me to wait and save for the armor/jet coated headers.
Is there really a difference between the black-painted and armor/jet-coated? I do have to admit, I take my truck fishing on the beach quite often, I think the black painted might rust pretty quick.

dont waste your money. Your gains will only be at the top end of the RPMs in exchange for low end power. Shorties are only good for about 1hp.
Now if you get long tubes (which they dont make right now for the trucks) then you would get gains.
Personally, split the Y pipe and run duals.

NOT TRUE MATT. THE NEW GENERATION MOTORS RELY ON BACK PRESSURE FOR LOW END TORQUE. A LONG TUBE HEADER WOULD MAKE THE TRUCK FALL ON ITS FACE OUT OF THE HOLE. I PUT GIBSON SHORTY'S ON MINE THEN DYNO'ED IT AND MADE 13 HORSE TO THE REAR WHEELS WITH 19 FT LBS. OF TORQUE. THAT'S WHY THEY DON'T EVEN MAKE LONG TUBE HEADERS-NO POWER!!
They don't make long tube headers because of emission regulations. Banks V10 headers for motorhome applications are long tube. They add tons of TQ.
