Ok, so I've got the muffler down to a borla XR1, I guess my next question is the config. I have had SI/DO on other trucks, and it was nice, but this truck came with a SI/SO magnaflow. I am sort of leaning to that config again. It's much easier to keep one tip clean vs two.... I guess my question is I won't be able to tell a difference in sound or performance I'm assuming correct? Maybe just a little on sound since it is coming from just one side of the truck? I plan on replacing the stock midpipe up to the stock y with a 3" midpipe and then running a 4" tip if I go with the SI/SO. I hate when I over analyze stuff. lol

Doing what you and I discussed or doing a full single 3" and you won't notice any difference in performance or sound. Only way sound would be different is if you split them and one is on each side of the truck. In my case being they are on the same side they won't be different at all.
It'll all come down do you like the look of single 3" or dual 2.5"

You can run a single 3" and get a dual outlet tip. Much easier that way.

I don't mind a 4" single tip... Just wonder which one would look best. It would be cheaper in the long run anyhow. Decisions decisions.... The trouble with duals is there always seems to be one that isn't level. I think one large good looking tip would do. Any suggestions? I saw one that borla had that might be nice, I'm kinda **** about stuff matching. I wouldn't want to run a magnaflow tip with a borla muffler..... Maybe I'm just weird lol

Ya that was my problem with the 90s behind each tire. It was perfect for about 6 months then one was lower than the other. Fixed that with genuine Harley tailpipes. .
I don't like Borla tips to much. I have Maggy tips right now, they are decent but I loved MBRP tips. Nice and thick, rolled slashed ends. In the 5 years I had them they never rusted or pitted. My Maggy tips look kinda rough after a year.

Yeah as long as it last is all that really matters I guess. The magnaflow one that is on the truck now will shine up, but not for long. I just want a nice tip. Time to google search some pictures o guess.

The exit preference is all in the eye of the beholder. I personally love the OEM Harley look, 45'd behind passenger tire and a double outlet tip. If I were to redo my truck exhaust exit I would do that.

I agree. That seems to be my favorite now.
