Help with oem style exhaust

Truxk: 2008 XL, short bed/reg cab w/4.2 V6

First off, I know very little about exhaust systems. My muffler has some lose baffles that have been driving me crazy. Also, the pipes, clamps and nuts closer to the front look like they've seen better days.

Id like to replace my exhaust from the cats back to the tailpipe. That said, I want an oem style sound, nothing that's going to make my truck louder. I like it quiet, plus its a V6 and I don't want to sound like a ricer.

What grade of stainless steel do I want to go with for longivity? I drive in a HIGHLY SALTED climate half the year.

I also want a system with a single tailpipe that exits in the same spot.

I've checked tasca, and the oem ford stuff seems way over priced. Rockauto have a few full kits, but the walker brand are cheap and I bet they'll rust out fast. The only other kit they had was a dynaflow or something and it was a dual exhaust, good deal, $390 for the whole kit, but I want something more factory-ish.

Id also like to spend under $400. Is that even possible?

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help! Sorry about the long post.

Hey.

Marerial: refer to Section 5 in here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ex...ust-guide.html

Muffler - largest/longest 2.5" in/out 5" x 11"oval-bodied SS muffler from Magnaflow.

Take it to a shop - have them bend up new SS midpipe to muffler and tailpipe and add a nice SS tip. Mandrel bends are not required - it's a 4.2L. Cheaper that way too. $400 should be doable.

Good luck

Thank you! And didn't even think to check the guide. I've actually never visited this section ha!

I also tried looking, but everyone wants a performance exhaust and not oe style.

Thanks again!
