Comparison of my true duals with and without an X-Pipe

I recently took my truck to the shop to get the exhaust done. I wanted true dual mandrel bent pipes from the factory cats back to 4" tips exiting at the rear corners.

Due to a misunderstanding, I received my truck back with true dual straights and no X-Pipe. Since I had to wait a couple days for the parts to come in I figured I would make a comparison video of the two setups.

Setups:
  • 2.5" tubing, true dual straights, no X-Pipe, exiting at corners to 4"x"18 tips.
  • 2.5" tubing, true dual straights, X-Pipe, exiting at corners to 4"x"18 tips.

I have some footage of cold starts and driving in the cab, but I forgot to edit them in. I can hopefully get those up tomorrow since I it's getting late and I am headed to bed.

It is all filmed on my phone so the mic is not great but there is definitely a noticeable difference between the two setups.

With the X-Pipe is so much better IMHO.

Y'all don't do it fer the sound - you do it fer the scavenging.

x2!

Good compare videos. I enjoy seeing same area/scenario compare videos. Reminds me of the days when I had plenty of free time to make videos . How much better does the low end feel with the X pipe?

Honestly I didn't notice much of a difference. I think i would have noticed it more in the seat-of-the-pants dyno if I had went from an x-pipe to the setup without one. I guess loss of power has always been more noticeable to me during everyday driving.

Interesting. Perhaps a difference would better be noticed under towing.

Did you used to have a red Supercrew truck with a dual system using a Magnaflow DI/DO?

Yea, I would say that if I did tow a lot I would notice a difference. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to tow anything while it was without the X-Pipe so I wouldn't be able to compare that.

I did have a 2004 XLT with the Magnaflow DI/DO. I ended up trading it in on a 2007 Mustang GT in 2010 and trading that in in 2012 on the truck I have now.
