Keep the stock intake. Spend the $$$ on something that will make a difference, not something that just looks cool and makes noise.

More air flow never hurt anybody ! But I'll be honest you will maybe see a handful of HP by adding a cold air intake by itself, people claiming 30+ hp with intakes etc is just not true. But on the other hand, they look great and you should get a little throttle response and sound with it.

Throttle response is controlled by the PCM. An intake won't affect it in the least, you would need a tune to improve that. The stock intake is capable of flowing more air than the engine needs under any conditions.

True for the newer vehicles, factory tuning is quite conservative. I was speaking generally regarding CAI's

And require a custom tune cause the CAI just FUBBARRED the MAF due the size pipe and location in the air stream flow....

Our intakes do not require a custom tune, however we do offer one for the ecoboost.

Different animal but I did notice a little more power on both of my 4.2L f150s. I had an 04 heritage which I bought the k&n intake for and then traded it in for my 08 and put the intake on that (took some rigging) but the 08 gained more it seemed. Both got better mpgs, 04 was at least +2 and 08 about +1. The 08 was less aerodynamic and had 3.55 axle whereas the 04 was a 3.08 axle. My custom tune definitely woke up my 08 a lot more than the intake did tho. Since you already have that, I would say do what you want. If you want an intake, get one. You will always have opinions and stories both positive and negative alike. Even with a k&n drop in i had experienced different results in different vehicles but I would still recommend one until you purchase an intake or do the Gotts mod. If you get an intake I would suggest getting a flex tube and find somewhere on the front to draw air from and run the flex tube from there to the filter (if you get an open system) for outside temp air. Open filter the engine heat will warm up the air while stopped. Advantage for me was better pickup at speed since I was getting the outside temp air in my intake, disadvantage was having to clean the filter a lot more often. I bought an extra filter for this reason so I wouldn't have to clean a filter while it's cold out.
Anyways bottom line is if you want it, get it. This is the case for vehicle paint colors, exhaust sounds, aftermarket wheels, etc. You might think something looks cool but people don't like but it's your vehicle so do it if you want. I personally thought my 08 4.2L sounded better than every 4.6 or 5.4 I've heard except a few. So I wouldn't buy a 5.4 or 4.6 but 95% of everyone else is the opposite....can't stand the sound of the V6... It's up to you. No matter where you go you will find pretty much a opinion war about intakes or even oiled vs dry filters. Oiled filters can cause your MAF to malfunction if your intake pulls too much intake oil thru it. Before finding this site I oiled the crap out of my filters. Wanted them to look cool (dark red filter compared to a pink one lol) and I never had a problem. I must have dodged a bullet on that one... Use your judgement one here. Some things will be unanimous like use motorcraft spark plugs....but intakes, exhausts, cosmetics...just do what you want.

I didn't notice much of a difference. Sounds better under WOT. I saw the biggest difference on a 0 - 60 test custom tuned with stock intake vs custom tuned after intake ( tuned for intake I mean ). Check out my video for an 'after' review of my personal experience.

I just put a cold air intake on my 14 ram a few weeks ago and gained .1 on my 0-60 and have been getting better gas mileage. Only 1 or 2 but still it's more.
