Isn't it 2.75 into muffler and 3" out?

2.75" as mentioned. GM trucks have ran that size since the LS series 5.3Ls have been in them I believe so the odd size has been around awhile.

So the next question is would a 3" fit tightly over a 2.75 or is that too much of a difference?

Too much. If Summit doesn't have an adapter I would think a muffler shop could make one.

Summit should have an adapter for it. Auto parts stores definitely do.

Anything with 2.75 is hard to find.
