Tip question

When I was installing my exhaust my friend insisted that I leave the 2.5" dia pipe inside the exhaust tip. (See picture) it makes more sense to me to cut it back as far as I can? Which thought is correct?

Ryan.

It doesn't look like it in the picture but its out into the tip fairly far. Other side is worse.

I always had mine cut so the pipe stops inside the flange tee before the tip started to go wider.. That way it will resonate the sound better

I agree I don't know why you would want to leave part of the pipe inside the wide part of the tip like that.

x2. Tips are for appeal, but long and large ones echo the sound even more. The exhaust tubing inside the tip looks cheap and kills the exhaust tone the tip can enhance.
