Now his post makes sense (post #12), but he didn't say that before.

He falsified a 2 quotes from me now, -no one here has stooped that low.

This user makes incorrect statements, guiding others in the wrong direction. It's done purposely, he's been here long enough to know. This isn't the first time.

Brewskabob;

On yer first point I 110% agree and support you. That IS a serious breach of conduct, no way to dodge it or misinterpret it.

The word 'despicable' comes to mind; 'vacation-worthy' conduct, in point of fact. However, the Mods and I seldom agree or see eye-to-eye, as I recognize I'm in their 'black sheep' folder, so this of course will go nowhere.

On yer second point - I believe you may have misunderstood, my old friend. The inference was, he won nothing of value.

MGD

PS: OP - Sir Jack is correct - git yeseff a shiney new pair of direct bolt-on longtubes, son.

Gotcha.

Oh,- your not the only one in that folder.

They're are going to want they want to do based on things that SHOULDN'T be in the equation IMO. That's how the power-trip works. Obviously the user in question actions were ignored. To condone it is to approve it. Like I said, this isn't the first time this user has done this....most likely won't be the last.

Nupe. Reckon it don't matter none in the case o' Sir Jagsoff in his Socks.

OP. Ye ortta have a purty good idear who knows whut they's a-tawkin' aboot 'n who don't by now.

However, I'll just humbly add that a proper set of long tube headers will NOT require any modifications whur ye'd be a-hackin' 'round on ye truck 'n all. Additionally, they WILL provide tangible performance gains and change the tone of ye buggy right substanshull-like.

If you go that route, do get a custom tune for them in order to maximize yer gains.

Apparently my sense of humor is lost on some. For that, my apologies.

Always happy to clarify as I don't always have time to give a detailed explanation initially.

Shorties are cheaper, easier to install, and will probably cause you to lose low end torque. Longtubes can enhance performance, but are a lot harder to install and more expensive by the time you get done. Is that clear enough?

Why don't you just save your money and keep the stock manifolds?

In the absence of actual dyno sheets for this application, I'm not convinced that you'd lose low-end torque. Rather your gains would be mostly in the mid-range. If anybody has this data, please feel free to contribute. Read more from Gibson themselves in the link below.

"Dyno-tuned and engineered to deliver more usable horsepower and torque at low and mid-range RPM highway speeds."

To install long-tube headers, plan on having an exhaust shop make a new Y-pipe and add converters. I don't know off-hand of anybody that makes long-tubes and a Y-pipe for your truck.

Each application is different in terms of exactly where the peak power gains occur.

Just to clarify my position on this - as far as I can tell, EsJayEs DID, in fact, make up the quote he attributed to jbrew. However, in my opinion, I do not see it as a particularly demeaning or obnoxious statement. So, I don't think I need to overreact to it.

But, when someone makes things up, it SHOULD make people rightly question his recommendations. BigBuckMafia, you might want to take this into consideration when you make your decision.

I'll make it easy... show you what I'm talking about.

Shorty Headers

Here's the link user EsJayEs suggested -

http://www.realtruck.com/gibson-perf...rs/gp207s.html

Those are $500 shorties w/free shipping.

Here's another link EsJayEs suggests, -

http://www.realtruck.com/gibson-perf.../gp207s-c.html

$586.70 for those shorties

No usable horsepower or torque gains, -they don't help down low, but you may see a little gain way up high in the RPM's. If your WFO everywhere you go, you may be able to benefit that wi amount of gain if you try...really hard.

Doesn't make sense as I said before. Shorties have NEVER netted gains to write home about. It has been that way for the tenth generation trucks w/the Modular Motors for as long as I can remember. All you have to do is research a bit. Not just here...google it.

Long Tube headers w/High Flow cats (2)

This is how CHEAP long tube headers could cost yuh if planned properly, -

Pacesetters, - (I installed 2 sets of these, -one set on my truck back in 08 and they've been great), -

http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/pace...R1gaAgBd8P8HAQ

They'll run yuh $262.99

I don't care what anybody says, I can tell you for a fact you DO NOT need special Y-Pipe. That is just bad information, no way around it. You use your factory Y-Pipe for LT headers and High flow catalytic converters.

Now that that's straight, -

High Flow Cats

Your 4 converts currently on your truck have a much higher value (more precious metals) then most catalytic converters being sold today. Cut them off, take them up to the salvage yard. I received $160 for my old converters, - since then, I've heard of guys getting $200 + for their original old cats.

So New High Flow converters are a wash , so to speak. Here's what they run for good ones - these are CARB compliant, it's what you want, -

Amazon.com: Magnaflow 34006 Universal Catalytic Converter - CARB Compliant: Automotive Amazon.com: Magnaflow 34006 Universal Catalytic Converter - CARB Compliant: Automotive

While we are 'clarifying' and 'opining':

1. It was TWO quotes. Count 'em - TWO. No accident here - it was intentional derision.
2. Where I come from, placing false words in someone's mouth IS obnoxious.
3. Your (non)reaction is no surprise.
4. The OP playing the 'humour' card with the attendant disingenuous apology? No comment required on that point.

Black Sheep out.

PS: Brewsky: thet whur an' excellent summ'ry o' the header options! Thankee! OP - listen t' Big D an' this here feller! If'n ye's gunna be a'skinnin' ye knuckles anyhoo, may as well be fer some useful return.
