REALLY pissed with Manaflow ! ( Updated Found Solution )

I have a dual exit cat back Magnaflow system on my 2008 Lariat Screw and love the sound and am always getting compliments on it. I ordered a 2014 Lariat Screw and phoned Magnaflow to get the correct part number for a new dual exit cat back system for my truck. The gentleman in tech support found me the part number and I asked if anything had changed much since my 2008 model or was there anything I needed to be aware of special for the install or use and was told nope.

The truck came in yesterday finally after a 12 week wait ! Part of my deal was the dealer was installing the MF kit for me for me for free. Well they called this morning to say something must be wrong because with the kit in place I have to remove my spare tire and keep it out ! I said something must be wrong so I phoned MF to find out yes with the new model truck the spare need to be removed and that it comes up in BIG letters to warn the client about when inquires are made. I guess my tech at MF was blind because there was no mention of it even when I asked twice about any heads up or anything. I would have never ordered the kit if I had of known that and being Ive had the kit 10 weeks as I ordered it assuming my truck would be a 5-6 week build like always cannot return it to the local dealer here.

So now I am stuck driving a brand new truck with a 20" tire sliding around in the back all the time. Really not happy !

That sucks, I've heard you have to do that with some of their kits, not sure why they couldn't figure out how not to have to do that if others can fit fine.

Ya me either and thats what I phoned them direct to make sure I had everything figured out. It looks like Borla and FlowMaster have a kit that goes around the spare no idea why MF could not do the same !

It will possibly effect the warranty honoring if something goes wrong in the future. But overall, no modification should need performed to fit properly, and there is no reason at all that the Magnaflow kit should need removal of the spare to fit correctly. If Magnaflow seriously can not make their tailpipes fit without removal of spare, and the other two companies can, then that is a major fail.

Found a shop that only does custom exhaust and brought the truck in today, they modified the Magnaflow kit to come around the spare so I could put it back where it belongs under the truck and it came out perfect ! Why Magnaflow could not design the kit like this from day one just seems like plain laziness to me. I have been a Magnaflow customer for years but after this will def look at other products first next time !
