Yeah, that's what I thought and said with the motors. Don't know why MGD said 4.2 unless he was joking.

Why did you supercharge the green one when you have the lightning and Harley? I don't know the acquisition timeline though. I always figured you just couldn't help yourself! I probably would've left one or two alone and then messed with one of the ones that's already supercharged

Here's a bracket for a vortech. I'm sure you can send the guy a msg. On eBay and offer him $100 to $150 max for all this crap. It's not like its valuable or anything it's for a 13 year truck.

You can find a good used v1/v2 head unit for $500 to $800 tops and a crankshaft pulley. Use the worthless diaphragm "fmu" to cut costs if you don't want to use bigger injectors and a fuel pump.

And like other have said about $300-$400 for a retune.

I would imagine you would pick up at least 65-75 hp/lbs. TQ at the wheels going this route.
There's no other mods I can think of that would give as much of a return for the money.

Thanks for all the great info. Sorry I have not had a chance to respond, I have been out of town for the last week. My truck is a 2001 F150 Supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4l engine. It is completely stock and I believe the gears are the 3.73 but not sure. I cannot seem to find where the gear info is and the Ford dealer has not been any help at all, any suggestions as to where I could find it would be helpful. I'm only towing an 18ft Toy Hauler with a max weight of 7000lbs, most of the time it is just me and an 80lb tool box in the truck and a dirt bike, generator and 10 gals of gas, and maybe 10 gals of water in the trailer. At most the trailer is weighing in around 5000lbs with what I carry.

Driver door jamb label.

Decoder here:

Woah - 7K is not trivial for that MY and body style and gearing.

I thought the same thing, but that's just what the trailer can take. He said the most he's ever got in it is 5k pounds.

Well that was easy enough, it appears I have the 3.55s. Hard to believe the dealer could not give me this info, they just said 8000lbs. So gears seems to be the place to start do you guys think just going to the 3.73s would be enough or should I go straight to the 4.10s?

If you are going to jump and spend the money jump up to at the least 4.10

For a completely stock truck, yeah I'd do 4.10s. 4.56 would be the next set up that you could do, but that's extremely aggressive for stock height and stock tires.

With stock height tires, I would get 4.10's and a programmer with custom tunes. This will set you back less than $2500. An almost no cost intake mod would be the "Gotts Mod", and an exhaust may help somewhat - but that will increase the noise if you care about things like that. The stock exhaust is a lot less restrictive than you may think.

I'd leave the stock exhaust in place, and add some boost along with the re-gear

Any recommendations on a programmer and the best place to get one? Also what is the best way to go about getting gears, should I try to find used ones or am I better off buying new?

I bought G2 gears, oils, and install kits off of Amazon for my gear swap then had my mechanic install them. I plan on getting a programmer and custom tunes next from http://www.morepowertuning.com . I am not sure of what prices are for 4.10, but my 4.56 and install kits were about $100 cheaper, overall, getting them from Amazon than they were from summit.
