One click and pops and tings sounds

I have noticed My 2007 F-150 4.6 Makes one loud Click/pop noise(right side engine area ) about 30 seconds after start up and only once .And after driving then parked .And shutting off engine metal Pops and tings spaced out random every so often till cooled off .(Maybe around the cats ) My truck has never done this till lately .

Any thoughts on what this can be. Or what to look for .Other then the noises it still runs fine . I have been running a off road Roush cat back and Roush cold air intake and Vmp SCT 87 (mostly) gas performance tune loaded. For the last 6 years . Any input would be great Thanks .

Mine does that too. It will do it mostly from a cold start on mine. I just tripped 80 k miles so I can't see anything being wore out. I know it sounds like my cats are doing it when hot but it will do it on a cold start as well so not sure. My engine runs excellent so I'm just going to see if it stops once my cats are gone from me installing my pacesetter longtubes and y pipe soon. I can't narrow mine down to either side. Also mine is a 4.6l 2 valve so it can't be the phasers like the 5.4l guys have issues with.

Yeah My truck is running fine as well it just started this at 60,000 or so .I am pretty sure its the cats passenger side seems to make more pops/tings then driver side at cool down and on a cold start seems like that same side maybe 2 pop tings seems to be about it till cooling off .

Mine never did it until I had installed my cams and other mods along with a custom tune. I was told by my tuner that I would stop the factory cats up in no time so that's why I bought the pacesetter longtubes and offroad y pipe that I'm fixing to install. I'm hoping that takes care of the noise. I will report back once I have those installed to see if the noise is gone or not.

Crawled under the truck to confirm it is the cats and it defiantly is . Each cat pops twice on a cold start .And cool down as well .Just not sure what the cheap alternative is .I have a Roush off road cat back sounds great for not having headers I like the sound . Debating about trying to get some
( A)warranty work from the dealership or (B) just shop for Hi Flow Cats .Or (C) Test pipes .

I recently bought pacesetter longtubes and y pipe that deletes the cats. If you don't want headers just buy high flow cats for it.

Here you go

http://pacesetterexhaust.com/04-08-f...e-headers.aspx

Way cheaper on eBay and include the matching off-road y pipe for cheaper..

Headers $220 shipped

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PaceSetter-7...829d85&vxp=mtr

Y pipe $130

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PaceSetter-Q...00ee7a&vxp=mtr

The headers and y only use your front two oxygen sensors. After install you will get a cel code but your truck will run just fine. Simply take it to a tuner and they can cut your back oxygen sensors off and get rid of your cel light...
