Ideas to quiet the tone down

So quick story, had the full exhaust minus headers done in May ( Hi-flow cats, 2.5 to 3 Y, and Full stainless 3" back to a 4" tip with 14" Magnaflow muffler.

Now I love the tone and the rumble that comes from the setup, but my GF has been hearing several complaints about the noise of the truck now from our neighbors, and She is hell bent on making me quiet it down

So my question, would removing the tip be enough to quiet things down or possibly changing to a 24" muffler? Or am I going to have to overhaul the system?

Thanks

Removing the tip wouldn't really do anything. If you got it to "dump" under the truck, it might help some because then the noise won't be projecting outward, but staying under the truck and bouncing around. I don't think that would do much though, and I think it would actually sound louder inside the cab. You could perhaps look into resonators. They take a bit of the edge off and quiet it down enough to tell, but they don't completely shut it up. Swapping mufflers would be fine too and would be the most "certain" route to go as far as quieting it down.

But honestly, that set up should not be loud enough for neighbors to complain about. An if it is, I'd just drive slowly and keep the RPMs down. I have a Roush (Borla) catback that was probably a touch quieter than what you're got. That was decently loud, but not too bad. Now I have long tube headers, no cats, y pipe, and that same SIDO Borla catback. Even now, it's only super loud on start up. Once it's warmed up, if I keep it below 1500 RPM, it's pretty quiet.

That too! Damn girlfriends/wives telling us what to with our trucks . . . They get their way with a lot of things, but our trucks shouldn't be one of them
