Exhaust Studs and Heat.

I am thinking about tackling the driver and passenger side exhaust manifold. I have done some research and with a little patience and the proper tools it doesn't seem to be to bad. Just wondering, I didn't read to much about people using heat. Would it be ok to soak the studs in penetrate and give them a little heat with a bottle of map gas. and then try to extract the stud?

I am putting a motor in my truck and had to remove the studs with heat and vice grips. The heads being aluminum really dissipitates the heat...I think you'll need hotter like oxy/acetylene.

I was surprised at how long I had to heat...then grab with the grips and wiggle it back and forth to break free. Then they just backed out...wouldn't budge just trying to back them out.
