Flowmaster Advice

I'm looking around and I'm wondering if this is a good deal or not? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-F150-Du...1818da&vxp=mtr

Anyone have these type of Flowmasters and comments on them?

Darren I looked at your video on youtube with your exhaust system and that's the deep sound I would like to have. What all did you do for yours?

The link won't work for me, but I'm going to assume that what the other guys said is correct. So it is a generic, inexpensive "kit" with a Flowmaster. But it depends what it is that you're looking for. Millions and millions of people run Flowmaster, so it isn't going to hurt anything. But it's a chambered muffler, and will have drone on the highway. I have a Roush (Rebranded Borla) and I like it; minimal drone and a nice deep tone. I believe Darren has a Borla as well. Lots of people here run Borla and Magnaflow because they're straight-through style mufflers without drone.

You're usually better off getting a muffler you like and having an exhaust shop bend some pipe for you. It's still relatively inexpensive.

So what would you say is a reasonable price to put in dual exhuast with a mandrel bend and add some tips to them? Also if I do dual would I have to get a muffler for each side?

I would check with a local muffler shop before ordering anything like that. I got a Flowmaster 50 series, single in/dual out with tips done locally for around $275 if I remember right. You don't have to have 2 mufflers to have a dual setup, you can do a single in/dual out muffler and have an aggressive sound and the dual look but it will be way cheaper than a true dual system.

Thanks man. I have a couple magna flow y pipes, one that replaced the original Y and one that makes dual tails after my muffler. A mandrel bent piece to replace the necked down portion on the drivers side bank to Y pipe, 3" intermediate pipe 100% unbent, a Magna flow Magnapack muffler part #14419, and mandrel bent universal tailpipes in 2.5" routed to exit at 45s with Magna flow 4"x18" rolled edge tips part #35117.

So they key is 100% mandrel bent, and the 3" mid pipe. My tubing is also all T-409 stainless for durability.

Ok so basically for a dual I can get a Magnaflow muffler, Y pipe out for dual and two Magnaflow tips, I want rear exit so I wouldn't need a mandrel bend at the back. Will my original Y pipe be suffice or is it better to replace while I'm at it? And is the neck down piece that you replaced with mandrel bend the piece that is connected to the engine? And where does the 3" unbent pipe come into place?

____T
[E]---[M]<
------T

A bad attempt to make the design, but the E is the engine, M is muffler, T is Tip, where would it need to be mandrel bent? And where would your parts go on this layout?

When I typed it the lines coming from the muffler where pushed back so just image the pipes leading out of the muffler

Climb under your truck and look at the factory exhaust so you can envision what's being discussed. And my bad on your Magnaflows Darren

I actually found an exhaust guide forum on here that explained everything except about mandrel bending. But besides that I want a SIDO probably use the same muffler as you Darren and tips if you don't mind. I can either do straight exit or 45 because I have mud flaps so the tips won't get covered in dirt but does it cost more to get mandrel bend to 45s or just keep the straight exit?

Tara is pretty correct in most instances, at least with Magnaflow mufflers smaller than 14". With my round body Magnaflow, I experience a heavy drone point. I actually like it, but if I had longtube headers I almost invision it on being too much inside. That could make me want to add a resonator in midpipe or change out to a Borla ProXS.
