Also can somebody confirm that the video KoolPonyCar posted is STOCK CATS, STOCK MUFFLER, STOCK TAIL PIPE. With ONLY the resonator deleted using the 09-10 pipe?

Wayne,

Re your drawing: You are correct about the factory Y pipe being 3". However, immediately behind and connecting to the Y pipe via a 2 bolt flange is the resonater pipe (the pipe with the resonator welded in from the factory). This pipe is 2 1/2" from the Y going into the resonator and 2 1/2" coming out of the resonater. Now for the confusion in our communication.......and the drawing doesn't show this..... there is a second mid-pipe that ties into the pipe coming out of the resonater, connecting via a twist lock (for want of words to better describe this) and welded into the muffler. The second mid-pipe that is welded into the muffler is 2 3/4" O.D. So, all that to say there are actually two pieces that make up the "mid-pipe", one welded into the outlet side of the resonater and one welded into the front side of the muffler. The pipe coming out of the muffler (the tail pipe) is 3" O.D. Sorry for the confusion and my poor communication skills.

I see what you mean now, i think:

After the ("collector", two bolt flanger as you say) on the 5.0L it necks down to 2.5" then goes up to 2.75" before the muffler then after the muffler its 3"?

I havnt worked on a 5.0L thats why im asking but on the Raptor 6.2L i know its 3.5" before the "collector". After the collector its 3" to the muffler then dual 2.5" after the muffler. What i did with the raptor was cut off the 3" pipe from the rear side of the "collector", machine it to accept a 3.5" pipe, welding a 3.5" to it the same lenght as the factory piece then installed a 3.5" MBRP system. So now its 3.5" from the "collector" back, it no longer bottle necks at the "collector".

Has anybody removed JUST the resonator on the 5.0L and left EVERYTHING else stock? If so, can someone help me with a link? Im asking so many questions because im picking up my 2013 FX2 either today or tomorrow. I also have a friend with a 2013 Platinum looking for exhaust as well.

YES, that's correct

I think I can find a link to this. I know I've read about it and this is what I intend to do.

Wayne
I installed a "Cat back SI/DO system" and am removing it tomorrow, going back with factory system using the '09/'10 straight mid-pipe to eleminate the resonater. If I can find that link for you I'll post back shortly.

For Wayne,

Here's the link: http://www.f150forum.com/f38/2011-12...lution-151041/

Post #8 Answers your question about removing just the resonater and leaving factory system as is.

Post #36 has a vid so you can see what it will sound like.

Weird that the big motor starts big and necks down while the 5.0 starts smaller and necks up. Oh well, I'm sure the mother company knows best, huh.

Wayne, I used the 9L3Z-5A212-C - 145" WB without extension pipe because it was cheaper. If you go back to that thread you can see pictures of the pipes with and without the little hooter they use for an anti-vibe or offset weight. It's post #71, page 8. It looked sorta useless to me and mine works great without it.

Same here, I got the pipe with-out the Anti-vibe piece too. Mine works great and I have no drone.
