kit or custom?

From what I read in the exhaust forum, it is cheaper to buy tips and a muffler(s), and have them custom installed by your local muffler shop?
It seems like the way to go. I've decided to go SI/DO with split side exits @45's

it depends on what your goal is. i wanted t-304 stainless piping with a 45'd degree exit out both sides and with the use of magnaflow magnapack. There are no kits for mines so i went custom.....

Custom; cheaper, much broader selection of mufflers tips and exits, and fully welded. You can even order stainless pipe and take it to a shop.

The only advantage to a "kit" is being able to install the system in your garage with basic tools, but those clamps aren't near as robust as a good weld.
