Magnaflow question

Hey fellas I was wanting to add a little volume and tone to my stock exhaust on the 09' 5.4.. I had thought about putting on a Mag cat back system with the SiDo muffler into 45 or 90 tips exiting out in front of the rear wheel. After looking one up that I liked I was wondering what the $650+ price tag was all about, and what the difference would be in the system vs. just a Magnaflow SiDo muffler with the pre-bent elbows, pipe and tips bolted into where the stock muffler came off? Besides about $400. Is there really going to be a huge difference in sound or anything? I already have a welder and can turn a wrench, I see the whole system is SS I just was wondering id it would matter putting the muffler and tips on or buying a prefab kit. Thanks

No really difference in sound or performance as long as the mufflers are the same.

Going custom, you have a much broader selection of mufflers, tips, and exits.

x2, the cat-back is good for us north PA guys ( you are 45 miles south of my location ). I know the Lycoming/Muncy/I-80/R15 can be salty so the cat-backs are good to withstand corrosion.

The best way to go about it for sound increase is to choose your preferred sound, buy the muffler, and have it fabbed up. If you can find a shop that does stainless work that is even better.
